My Background
I am a 1L at UIC Law and recently completed my MPhil in International History at Trinity College Dublin, where I studied sociolinguistic carceral history. My academic research interests lie in carceral history, specifically the prison as a site of anti-colonial struggle through sound. I have extensive criminal defense paralegal experience and am always open to opportunities, especially regarding mitigation.

At the high level, I am academically interested in carceral sensory politics. This includes, but is not limited to, education, language, media, hunger strikes, and geography of and identity in the carceral state. Regarding industry work, I am a huge mitigation advocate and interested in trial work for indigent defense as well as postconviction appeals.

My interests stem from my background in community organizing and criminal defense, where I have worked as a paralegal, investigator, and in mitigation on trial, post-conviction, and appellate misdemeanor and federal cases across the United States. I have worked on a wide variety of cases, including (but not limited to) civil rights, white collar, homicide, and capital. I have also previously been a public benefits case handler.

In my free time, I enjoy going to concerts, spending time with my cats, Clíodhna "Clio" (she only has three legs!) and Tomato "Tommy" Soup agus ag foghlaim Gaeilge.
